Kegiatan ini mengusung tema <em>\u201cEmpowering Organic SRI Rice Farming Communities through Rhizosphere Microbiome Applications in Tasikmalaya\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prof. Babalola merupakan akademisi asal Nigeria yang berdomisili di Afrika Selatan dan berafiliasi dengan North-West University, South Africa. Beberapa topik utama yang dibahas meliputi kondisi lahan sawah, penyakit tanaman, serangan hama, serta teknologi pertanian yang digunakan, terutama dalam sistem pertanian organik. Diskusi juga mencakup strategi pengendalian hama dan penyakit yang diterapkan di kedua wilayah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Selain aspek budidaya, kegiatan ini turut membahas berbagai faktor pendukung dalam pengembangan padi organik, seperti peraturan dan regulasi pertanian organik, minat masyarakat terhadap produk padi organik, harga pasar, sistem distribusi, serta proses sertifikasi padi organik. Melalui studi banding ini, petani dan <em>stake holder<\/em> memperoleh gambaran mengenai peran kebijakan dan program pendampingan dalam memperkuat komunitas petani serta mendorong praktik pertanian yang lebih berkelanjutan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Isu regenerasi petani juga menjadi salah satu topik penting dalam kegiatan ini. Diskusi membahas minat generasi muda untuk terlibat dalam sektor pertanian serta upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk menarik anak muda agar melihat pertanian sebagai bidang yang inovatif, produktif, dan memiliki prospek masa depan. Pendekatan berbasis ilmu pengetahuan, termasuk pemanfaatan mikrobioma rizosfer, dinilai dapat menjadi salah satu cara untuk memperkenalkan pertanian sebagai bidang yang modern dan relevan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Selain itu, kegiatan ini juga membahas penyebaran varietas padi, termasuk varietas yang berkembang di Afrika Selatan dan varietas unggulan yang sedang didistribusikan. Salah satu perhatian dalam diskusi adalah potensi pengembangan varietas unggul yang tidak hanya mendukung produktivitas pertanian, tetapi juga memiliki nilai gizi yang bermanfaat bagi masyarakat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Melalui kegiatan PPM ini, Program Studi Biologi FMIPA Unpad berupaya memperkuat peran ilmu biologi dalam mendukung pertanian organik dan berkelanjutan.
