Beliau terkenal secara global sebagai ahli di bidang interaksi tumbuhan-mikroba dan remediasi.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pada sesi kedua ini Prof. Babalola membagikan ilmunya melalui <em>Distinguished Guest Lecture <\/em>yang menyoroti topik <strong>\u201cFrom Soil to Solution: Harnessing the Rhizosphere Microbiome for Sustainable and Climate-Resilient Agriculture\u201d<\/strong>. Caranya dengan memanfaatkan mikroba di dalam tanah sebagai alat untuk mengurangi penggunaan pupuk kimia yang dapat merusak tanaman hingga menimbulkan pencemaran. Sementara itu, dalam sisi ketahanan iklim, mikroba di dalam tanah dapat membantu tanaman bertahan dalam kondisi lingkungan yang ekstrem.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dalam era digital yang semakin pesat, teknologi modern seperti <em>Artificial Intelligence<\/em> (AI) dan <em>genomics<\/em> mulai digunakan untuk kebutuhan penelitian. Prof. Babalola menyoroti bahwa penggunaan teknologi tersebut bisa dimanfaatkan dengan bijak terutama dalam keperluan riset. Salah satu penerapannya yaitu dengan memanfaatkan AI dan <em>machine learning <\/em>untuk membuat prediksi dan mengelola data pengurutan DNA (<em>sequencing<\/em>) tanaman dan mikroba yang berukuran besar sebagai solusi praktis bagi petani.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Sesi Tanya Jawab<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pertanyaan pertama membahas mengenai penggabungan hasil <em>Whole Genome Sequencing<\/em> (WGS) dan metagenomik yang sering terkendala karena perbedaan alat yang digunakan dan karakteristiknya. Penggunaan AI tidak bisa dihindari, namun penggunaannya perlu didasari dengan tanggung jawab. Untuk penggunaan AI dalam kebutuhan akademik dapat dilakukan untuk mempercepat proses riset yang sebelumnya membutuhkan waktu yang lama untuk mengelola data.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dengan demikian, melalui <em>Guest Lecture<\/em> ini diharapkan penelitian mengenai penggunaan rizosfer dan mikrobioma dalam bidang pertanian dapat menjadi inovasi keberlanjutan untuk perkembangan riset pertanian yang luas di masa depan.
