The Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran, through the Laboratory of Applied Microbiology, successfully organized an International Community Service<\/strong> program titled \u201cJoint SRI Consultation and Knowledge Exchange Workshop between SRI Indonesia and SRI Philippines\u201d<\/em> on 27\u201330 November 2025<\/strong>. The program was led by Dr. Mia Miranti<\/strong> and Dr. Febri Doni<\/strong>, involving Indonesian SRI farmers and delegates from the Department of Agriculture, Philippines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop took place in Pagersari Village, Pagerageung Subdistrict, Tasikmalaya Regency<\/strong>, and Ciwedey Subdistrict, Bandung Regency<\/strong>, West Java. Throughout the activities, participants from both countries engaged in biofertilizer production sessions, rice marketing exchange discussions, and practical consultations on pest, disease, and water management in the System of Rice Intensification (SRI).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indonesian SRI farmers shared their successful field practices directly with the visiting participants from the Philippines. This knowledge exchange was part of the SRI Farmers\u2019 Exchange Program<\/em>, facilitated by the Southeast Asia SRI Regional Network<\/strong> in collaboration with the Rice Watch Action Network<\/strong>, and funded by the Philippine government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This international initiative not only strengthened sustainable agriculture collaboration between Indonesia and the Philippines but also contributed to several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<\/strong>, including Zero Hunger (SDG 2)<\/strong> through improved food security, Quality Education (SDG 4)<\/strong> through cross-country knowledge sharing, and Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12)<\/strong> through environmentally friendly agricultural practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through this program, the Biology Department of Universitas Padjadjaran reinforces its commitment to advancing applied research, strengthening international partnerships, and creating real community impact through science-based approaches to sustainable agriculture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
