Jatinangor, 20 April 2026 – Department of Biology, Universitas Padjadjaran, officially welcomed Prof. Olubukola Oluranti Babalola from North-West University, South Africa. Prof. Babalola is globally recognized as an expert in the field of plant-microbe interactions and remediation. This visit serves as a strategic initiative to foster research collaboration and international exchange programs between the two institutions.


In the first session, the agenda commenced with an official meeting between Prof. Babalola and the faculty members of the Department of Biology, along with several other lecturers from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA). The meeting took place in the Einstein Room, FMIPA Deanery Building. The discussion covered an introduction to Universitas Padjadjaran, ranging from its facilities to research programs, supported by programs such as EQUITY–WCU Universitas Padjadjaran. Additionally, the session included a discussion where both institutions aligned their academic programs to strengthen institutional resources.


The agenda continued with a visit by Prof. Babalola to the Central Laboratory of Universitas Padjadjaran. Prof. Babalola was invited to observe the laboratory’s instruments and activities firsthand, aiming to map out how the university’s facilities support faculty and student research. For the Department of Biology at Unpad, this visit is expected to serve as a valuable evaluation and learning experience to continue innovating and fostering a competent academic environment for the future.
