Congratulations to Rafi Khalido, an undergraduate Biology student, on the publication of his article entitled “Mechanisms of action and biocontrol potential of Trichoderma against Alternaria in horticultural crops: a review” in Frontiers in Fungal Biology (Scopus Q1), under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Nia Rossiana, Dr. Mia Miranti, and Febri Doni, Ph.D.

This review article discusses the potential of Trichoderma as an eco-friendly biological control agent against Alternaria-caused diseases in horticultural crops. The article highlights several key mechanisms involved in pathogen suppression, including mycoparasitism, antibiosis through secondary metabolites, competition for nutrients and space, and the induction of systemic resistance in host plants.
It also outlines future research directions, including strain selection, formulation development, delivery methods, and the application of genomic and metabolomic approaches to improve the consistency and effectiveness of Trichoderma-based biocontrol in sustainable horticultural disease management.
